On Monday afternoon, Bill Graham showed attendees how to use likeability skills to help improve relationships and communication skills by using your face, body and voice as tools. Attendees paired up to tell personal stories of impact to each other in order to get that "wow" factor and learn important details of story-telling others will remember in creating that personal connection.

On Tuesday morning, Don Rheem, Founder and CEO of E3 Solutions, explained the science that triggers exemplary workplace behavior at a neurological
level in order to help attendees understand how to create a thriving workplace culture and what improves employee performance, retention and morale.

We also recognized Scott Scarpato for his service to MLA, as his term as President concluded this April. The MLA Executive Committee thanked Scott for his distinguished leadership and commitment to the association and industry. This was his third time serving as MLA President which shows his true dedication to the association and outstanding leadership and knowledge. Thank you Scott! MLA appreciates you!

The State of the Coin

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted normal circulation patterns of U.S. coin and has posed significant challenges for the U.S. coin supply chain. A number of factors contributed to these challenges, including changes in consumer payment behavior, stay-at-home orders by state and local governments resulting in many business and bank closures, as well as the slowdown of the ability to obtain raw materials for manufacturing new coins, the availability of labor across the coin supply chain, and changes to the coin-supply-chain-servicing infrastructure.  View the US Coin Task Force report here.  For more visit, getcoinmoving.org/

All of these factors contribute to hurdles for the American consumers and businesses to get the coin that they need to support cash transactions. Yet, like never before, the pandemic has emphasized the importance of cash for consumers. Millions of Americans rely on currency and coin as their only or preferred form of payment, and businesses rely on cash and coin to make change for those transactions.

Laundry Facility Guidelines

The Multi-housing Laundry Association (MLA) is the North American trade association of operator and supplier companies providing professional laundry services for the multi-housing industry.

MLA is closely monitoring COVID-19 and recommendations following the latest guidelines from the World Health Organization and the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

As multi-housing laundry providers for common laundry rooms, our members provide laundry services for the homes of residents in the multi-housing sector, including public housing authorities and subsidized housing.  All laundry service providers remain critical to the basic needs and hygiene needs of the general public.  Access to these services is particularly important for multi-family housing residents who are often among low-income families with few alternatives for clothes washing.

MLA recommends distributing hand sanitizers across the facility and to employees and consistently reminding all employees to wash their hands regularly and to stay home when feeling ill or running a fever.

Upon entering and exiting laundry facilities, please wipe down the touch pad, door handles and other commonly touched surfaces on the equipment before and after you use the equipment.

Maintain 6-feet of social distance between others in the laundry facility, visit the facility at off-peak hours and wait outside for your laundry cycle to complete.

CDC Recommendations on Laundry:

For clothing, towels, linens and other items

  • Wash hands with soap and water as soon before and after handling laundry.
  • Do not shake dirty laundry.
  • Launder items according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.
  • Dirty laundry from an ill person can be washed with other people’s items.
  • Clean and disinfect clothes hampers according to guidance above for surfaces.
